TABAC fragrances to become Classic GP Assen title sponsor

Mäurer & Wirtz links TABAC fragrances & shaving, an established brand in personal hygiene for men, to the Classic GP Assen which takes place from September 8 to 10 at the Dutch TT-circuit in Assen. During the TABAC Classic GP Assen cars and motorcycles sharing a revolutionary racing past will enter the ‘Cathedral of Speed’ which has been the scene of the world-famous Dutch TT-races for almost a decade.

Mäurer & Wirtz, Benelux country manager, Keesjan Risch:

“TABAC fragrances has been a trusted brand in personal hygiene for men for over 60 years. The brand was established in 1959 in Germany and is being sold all over the world. Next to its classic product line TABAC Original, the brand continues to evolve. Tabac Wild ride is the latest introduction in fragrances, aiming at new and younger consumers, whilst always maintaining TABAC’s traditional brand values. Each year we attend several events with our own ‘TABAC Barber Truck’, we organize the ‘most beautiful Dutch woman’ pageant in conjunction with FHM and we generate online visibility through our online ‘Men of TABAC’ series in which radio creator Barend van Deelen and racing driver Tom Coronel play a prominent role. The brand is activated in places where men are having a good time. The Classic GP Assen certainly fits that description.”

LDP International, CEO,  Lee van Dam:

“We are delighted to welcome TABAC as the Classic GP Assen title sponsor and we look at this as a great strenghtening of the proposition we started with last year; bringing legendary racers to a legendary race track. The event revolves around real cars and real bikes driven by real men. Together with TABAC we will be able to get that message across to a mutual target group.”

TABAC isn’t entirely new to racing. This typical brand for men has had a long history of representation in motorsports, the most famous of which being the AMG-Mercedes C-class driven by German Jörg van Ommen to second in the 1995 German Touring Car championship. The TABAC-Merc is a legendary touring car which still features in classic races across Europe, bearing its original livery.
