On behalf of Barclay in the mid-80s LDP acts as a promoter for the Arrows Team in Formula One with drivers Gerhard Berger and Thierry Boutsen, as well as for Team Streuer and several Dutch riders in the Motorcycle Grand Prix World Champoinship.
With the Barclay brand LDP kickstarts a new event in Holland which sees all the Barclay sponsored athletes come together for races and demonstrations; the Barclay Racing Day. In 1986 the event is renamed to the Lucky Strike Racing Day. In 1991 Phillip Morris copies the formula for their 'Marlboro Masters' event which would run successfully for over two decades.
