The inaugural RIZLA Racing Day, an all new tailor-made event. With LDP overseeing Imperial Tobacco's title sponsorship of the Dutch TT and the Rizla Grand Prix Team, the next step would always be to create an event around the RIZLA sponsored motorsports activities. The entrance fee? A pack of RIZLA cigarette paper or a 'free ticket' published in one of many news and special interest magazines across the country.
The first edition immediately takes off with 30.000 people witnessing Dutch Grand Prix rider Jurgen van den Goorbergh drag racing his 500 cc Honda Grand Prix bike against British Touring Car ace Peter Kox's Honda Accord. The second edition is even beter when Van den Goorbergh and his Proton KR machine is joined by Dutch F1 star Jos Verstappen and his Arrows F1 car.
